Taylor's long lashes curtained her smooth cheeks as she dropped her gaze.

The adrenaline rush left behind from getting my hands on a sixty-five Shelby morphed into an explosion of every emotion I'd ever felt. I lunged forward and grabbed her hand. She gasped as I dragged her around the back of the building. I pressed her up against the bricks and stared down at her.

Immature, Ridiculous, and Just Plain Bad

While I hate to be the bearer of bad news, I have to say that this book is just not even close to worth reading. I read "Freefall", and while I didn't love it, I thought the characters and writing were good enough to give "Clutch" a chance. Tess Oliver dealt with some pretty heavy topics in "Freefall", and I always respect an author who can add that kind of substance to a book while telling a good story.

That all fell totally apart with Clutch. If you thought Taylor was annoying in the first book, get ready to want to slap the stupid out of this girl. Yes, I know that she's 18, and I probably should have expected it, but I just could not handle her constant attitude, bitchiness, immaturity, and "OMG, my family is ruining my life!" monologue. She doesn't take any responsibility for her actions, insists that she's an adult and should be treated like one, while simultaneously thinking "well, they all think I'm a brat so I might as well act like one!"

In addition, the book feels rushed and lacks substance. It's full of teenage angst and lacks any redeeming qualities that make me want to actually read about these characters.

What a disappointment. Freefall was worth reading, this one, definitely not. Spoilers: Taylor was an immature bitch! I just did not get her relationship with Clutch. Other than being hot, I didn't understand what he saw in her- she didn't have a single good character trait in her! It doesn't make sense. Clutch was so kind and thoughtful. And Taylor was this selfish immature kid running around doing whatever she felt like. Who flys to Alaska on a whim, without proper clothing, and ends up crying in a crazy mans shed? And for Clutch to fly to her rescue? Ugh. Lame! She truly acted her age. I get that her parents were overbearing but she still didn't think things through. I almost want to say Clutch is too sweet to end up with a girl like that but maybe he's an idiot too. I'm happy this book was free and I didn't waste my money.

When high school student Taylor Flinn’s parents ship her off to a relative’s house out of state, Jimmy “Clutch” Mason is both crushed and relieved. That wild girl may have his heart, but she’s out of control, and he’s way too old for her flirtatious games. But when she comes back, more grown up than ever and just a few weeks shy of her eighteenth birthday, all bets are off. With a boyfriend in tow and parents who won’t let her anywhere near Clutch, he knows he should stay away. But what his mind tells him and where his heart leads him are two very different things.

The Verdict: Well…that was a waste of money. I really liked Clutch in Freefall, and I couldn’t wait to read his story, but that didn’t work out so well.

Clutch is easy to love, and I certainly liked getting to know his character a bit more. It’s clear he loves his brother, his friends, and his business, but he’d do damned near anything for the barely legal girl whose relentless flirting and wild way have been driving him crazy for years. Taylor’s feelings for Clutch are no less intense, but she’s matured a little and begun putting herself first instead of throwing herself at him constantly. But no amount of clearing her head can do away with how she feels when Clutch is around, and when her parents and older brother forbid her from seeing him, she risks their constant disapproval to go after what she wants.

Unfortunately, I had a little trouble connecting to the characters. Taylor’s a rather flighty high school senior, and while most of the time she was perfect in her wild-child role, there were some odd moments where her declarations of love for Clutch just seemed a little too mature. I certainly understood Clutch much better, and he stayed in perfect character throughout the book, but when he and Taylor finally made a go of things, it felt kind of disconnected. For so many years he’d avoided her for her own good, always showing a protective side, but that seemed to fade a bit when their real relationship started. Given the depth of their feelings for each other and both their headstrong ways, it felt like the drama should have been a bit more volatile. Instead, they both acted so tame with each other.

What ruined it for me, though, was the ending. Sure, it was a happily-ever-after, I suppose, with Clutch facing off with Taylor’s parents and making it clear that he loved her and would take care of her, but it was so abrupt. The moment was over so quickly after all that build-up that it was a huge disappointment. It felt a lot like the author was told that she had a certain number of words left before the book hit its limit, so she just threw out a quick scene to wrap it up and called it done. Clutch is certainly an entertaining read for most of the book, but the characters lacked the depth that Freefall had, and the oddly rushed ending leaves a lot to be desired. The story is now set up for the next book, but while I’m a little curious about the rest of the characters, I don’t think I’ll be continuing unless I find them in the freebies list.

Good Choice

The Samkhya Karika is a very dense book, not easily read or understood.
The book with the commentary of Gaudapadacharya Bhasya in its clear translation and further comments, makes it accessible. The book is small and phont clear. A good book for those who have never read Samkhya and want to make sense of it, and invaluable for those who want to share it with their student.s

About the Author
Stuart McCrady is a Certified Engineering Technologist in the field of Electronics and Physics Engineering, as well as a Certified Professional Educator in the field of technical training for adults. He spent the first two years of his career in electronics, installing and servicing both large mainframe computer systems and small minicomputers. He then shifted to software programming in automation systems. This field of minicomputer programming required developing application software in machine or assembly language, executing at the hardware level. Field devices such as limit switches, pushbuttons, and solenoid valves, were connected to custom designed hardware interface boards installed inside the minicomputers. From the minicomputers of the 1970s to the PLCs and HMIs of today, Stuart has worked with a broad range of technologies using a variety of hardware and software platforms. He was involved in the design and implementation of more than 50 SCADA type projects. As his career progressed, Stuart acquired both more experience and more responsibility in the field of system integration and SCADA systems consulting. Stuart has served as programmer, project leader, project administrator, consultant, department manager, and SCADA system designer.

Throughout his career, Stuart strove to establish programming standards and design methodologies that could be applied to any SCADA application. In the mid-1970s, he developed a program design and documentation system which he called FLOCODE, which resembled high level languages such as C, but was written in plain English. The purpose of the system was to allow the programmer to design software using English-like statements using structured programming constructs such as: If-Then-Else and Do-While/Do_Until. He applied this method to his own programming at both the high level language and the machine level language; this design documentation then became the comments and program description once the program was completed.
Later, Stuart was involved in the establishment of a systematic tagging system for signal names which would work both for hardware signals as well as internal software points. In addition, a system of structured descriptions was developed for the PLCs which described the operations in simple English, but referenced key signals and operating parameters; this documentation served as the design document for the PLC programming. Stuart expanded this combination of systems into the complete design and documentation system which is the focus of his book: ‘Designing SCADA Application Software: A Practical Approach’.
In addition to this book on Designing SCADA Application Software, Stuart has published articles in trade magazines, as well as presented a paper on the application of computer control systems in the water treatment plants at an American Water Works Association convention.
In 2006, Stuart made another shift in his career, becoming a full time instructor/trainer. Stuart taught courses at the community college level and at the trade school level; courses included: electronics, residential wiring, digital logic circuits, communication networks, electro-pneumatic control systems, electrical motors and motor control circuits, and PLC programming. Since 2011, Stuart has been traveling throughout Canada and the United States, teaching PLC and HMI programming in cities across both countries. His extensive experience in the industry has served him well in the classrooms, as he is able to bring real world experiences into the classroom such that the students not only understand the programming material, but also understand how the concepts are applied.

David Schnasa Jacobsen is Professor of Homiletics at Waterloo Lutheran Seminary in Warterloo, Ontario. An ordained minister in the United Methodist Church, his previous books include Preaching in the New Creation (1999) and Preaching Luke-Acts (with Gunter Wasserberg; 2001). He was a contributor to New Proclamation, Year C, Pentecost, 2007.

Robert Allen Kelly is Professor of Systematic Theology and Assistant Dean at Waterloo Lutheran Seminary in Waterloo, Ontario. An ordained pastor in the ELCA, he has published numerous articles in books and journals.

"Monster" Kody, today known as Sanyika Sakur, spent 16 years as a "gangbanger" in South Central Los Angeles. His account begins at age 11, when he was inducted into the ranks of the Crips, and ends (hundreds of bodies later) with Scott serving a seven-year prison term for beating a crack dealer. Throughout, he successfully conveys a sense of the siege mentality that prevails every minute of every day, due to the daily barrage of gang-on-gang violence. Names of derivative Crip gangs (e.g., Rollin' Sixties, Hoovers, Grape Street Watts Crips) and gang members (e.g., Li'l Hunchy, Tray Ball, Huckabuck) flit across the pages in a confusing manner, but Scott pushes the narrative forward with scarcely a glance backward, and, ultimately, names and incidents are not important. Unfortunately, Scott was in prison during the violence that followed last year's Rodney King incident and thus sheds little light on the peace treaty forged between the Bloods and Crips. Although unrepentant, Scott today is dedicated to ending gang violence. Recommended for most collections.

L‚on Bing's study of L.A. gangs, Do or Die (1991) featured on its cover an awesomely muscular African-American male, naked to the waist, wearing sunglasses and wielding an automatic weapon. That man was ``Monster'' Kody Scott, who here tells his electrifying life story: an angry, stunningly violent odyssey through gang warfare and prison to redemption. The acknowledgements page reveals Scott's continued wrath: ``Bullet-proof love is extended to Muhammad Abdullah and the Islamic Liberation Army...Teflon bullets are sent to the sell- outs.'' Scott is still fighting, only now for the New Afrikan Independence Movement, dedicated to creating a separate black nation. But, then, the author has always been at war: Drafted at age 11 into a ``set'' of the ``ghastly gang army'' of the L.A. Crips--an army of ``children gone wild in a concrete jungle''--he shot his first man, a rival Blood, that same year, and for the next 15 years led a life spent defending his set by word, fist, and bullet: ``I liked to see the buckshot eat away their clothing, almost like piranha fish.'' Much of Scott's memoir is a horrifying chronicle of gang combat--shootings, betrayals, retaliations (Scott was shot six times in one ambush)--almost tedious in its unrelenting machismo and bloodshed, made palatable mostly by the author's deep knowledge of gang lore. Eventually, jail stints punctuate the street fighting; finally, in 1983, Scott, behind bars, meets a radical Muslim who teaches him that the real battle is with the white oppressors--a lesson that takes hold in the late 80's in Folsom Prison, where, amid outrageous depravity, Scott renounces ``gangsterism'' to embrace his new struggle. Today, Scott, 29, is back in prison, serving seven years for ``a healthy beating'' he gave to an unrepentant crack dealer. A savage document of the street that gives, and asks, no quarter. This was a pretty good read and insightful from this guys perspective. I know certain areas very well; Buddha Market, and the surrounding area.
He seems recently, to have gone back some of the same mentality he left, but don't let that take away from content in the book. I've also heard from a member of the Rollin' 60's that the book is pretty accurate.

Part of class assigned reading. This book was used to demonstrate the mentality of gang members and the concepts of other-ring. After reading doing just a basic search showed the progress the author had made and showed more then likely the author is an unreliable narrator. On my own I do not think I would be as interested to pick up this book.

Woah! This book is THICK and I was so shocked! It is packed full of knowledge, commentary, notes- everything! It's beautifully bound. My copy was shrink wrapped in plastic and inside of a cardboard box when I received it. It's exactly the same book that is displayed on Amazon. Very thick, very beautiful. Exactly what I wast looking for!

Invaluable, scholarly, critical, and revealing text. Ali's translation of the Qur'an is an important work for anyone whose desire is to gain an understanding of Islam. Ali's work is profound; exhaustive and illuminating, but it is not heavy or verbose, rather it is an absolute joy to read. His research draws not only from a well of his personal expereience as a Muslim, but also from extensive research. Citing Jewsih, as well as Christian, religious texts, Ali's work steadfastly and critically serves to clarify the true messages related by the Qur'an. His notes offer sound and approachable ideas to concepts of Islam including, but not limtied to: prayer, patience, behavior, and faith. The mostly illustrated interior with captions for the visual matter on nearly every page and occasional backgrounds on an editor or designer or short statements expand on this improvisational and in most cases energetic, adventurous, and artful style of the "zines" as such are called, short for "magazine". The large majority are European with a number from the United States.

Although there are cultural and political implications in the zines done outside of the corporate media selection, production, and promotion, the focus of the many and varied zines in this visual anthology is contemporary, mostly postmodern art involving photography, graphics, typography, and figures and faces.
Erik Van Der Weijde, publisher of "4878ZINE", is quoted, "To me, working with photography implies that I don't make things up. I just take what is already there, scoop it out of its context, and then present it after some selection and editing." Urs Lehni, publisher of Rollo Press, remarks, "Rollo Press is all about restrictions. The device itself is limited to a certain format, color, aesthetic, etc. I try to sound out the possibilities with these given limitations."

Stephen Knapp has studied the major Vedic texts of India and practiced yoga and the Eastern teachings for over forty years. He has traveled extensively throughout India and has taken over 17,000 photos of the numerous holy places he has visited. He has authored over twenty well-received books on Vedic culture and its spiritual philosophy. He has also lectured at many of India's most noteworthy colleges and universities, and many places in the United States as well. Brilliant Presentation on Vedic Philosophy

I had been looking for a good book for long to understand the basics/essence of Vedic Philosophy and got tired of reading books written by arm-chair authors from some university. I'm gald I found this book. It's authentic and easy-to-understand. Stephen Knapp has been praticing vedic culture for more than 40 years and contributing significanlty to preserve and protect this highest knowledge that is universal. So, this is a practical book also. This book has truly inspired me and has brought some positive changes within me.
I read a lot of books on self help, personality development, leadership (all time best-sellers) and I've to tell you that to be honest they are all mundane. I'm already feeling that I wasted all these years looking into all other books except Vedic Knowledge. Anyway, I'm glad now that I've realized the value of it after a lot of research.
