Catching Teilhard's Fire

I have been teaching and writing about Teilhard' spirituality for about 40 years, and I bought Rediscovering Teilhard's Fire mostly to complete my Teilhard library. It is a collection of 17 papers given by experts at a Teilhard conference a few years ago. Rather than simply tucking the volume away on a bookshelf of other Teilhard titles, I sat down the evening the book arrived in the mail and began reading one of the essays whose title caught my interest. I found myself highlighting sentences and making marginal comments. I realized I had just been given half a dozen new insights about Teilhard. Other ideas of his that I often had a hard time clearly expressing had been aptly phrased and simply formulated in a sentence or two. I found myself contentedly sitting and reflecting about the essay I had just read. I decided to keep the book on my reading table. Since that first evening, I have worked through about a third of the book, and I'm delighted with all the helpful insights I'm getting into Teilhard as a mystic, visionary, theologian and philosopher. It's a goldmine.
